  • The Danbury Animal Welfare Society in Bethel completed a $2.1 million renovation of its shelter last spring to add heated floors, new kennels, and updated animal care spaces such as kitten and puppy nurseries—designed to boost adoption rates and enhance animal care. Since reopening, the organization has seen increased adoptions and handles two to three animal transports each week.  The Ridgefield Press

  • Danish retailer Jack & Jones is set to open its first U.S. store at Danbury Fair Mall—listed as 'coming soon' on the mall website and advertising for a store manager—with an expected opening later this year or early next year.  The Ridgefield Press

  • Danbury Public Schools is partnering with Bus Patrol to equip over 160 buses with AI-powered stop arm enforcement technology that uses cameras to capture license plates—drivers who illegally pass stopped buses face a $250 penalty.   • The Candlewood Lake Authority announced all islands on the lake will be closed to public use starting Friday because of unsustainable misuse and overcrowding—officials from lake patrol, state DEEP and local police will remove violators and issue trespassing charges and fines.  News 12 Connecticut

  • CTDOT is urging drivers to slow down and put away their phones in school zones as children walk, bike, and ride the bus back to school — passing a stopped bus can lead to fines up to $450 on a first offense and harsher penalties on repeat violations.  News 12 Connecticut
