- ➤ Police reported that at 2:40 a.m. on August 24, a Ford Mustang GT driven at high speed missed a left-hand curve at a Newtown intersection and struck a tree—killing 19-year-old Danbury resident Mary Cordero while injuring four others, two critically, who were taken to Danbury Hospital.
