CRIME NEWS

  • Rex Heuermann, charged with the murder of seven women including a Connecticut victim, appeared before a judge on Jan 16th in New York, and his daughter said after viewing a new docuseries that she believed he is most likely the Gilgo Beach killer—while his ex-wife maintains he is not capable of such acts.  The Ridgefield Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The DOT began emergency work on the Commodore Hull Bridge in Derby over the Housatonic River, closing Route 8 on-ramps at exit 12A northbound and exit 12B southbound to speed repairs—police are stationed along the roadway while travel lanes remain open. Officials expect the on-ramps will reopen by the end of this weekend.  WTNH-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Food and Drug Administration announced that Salted Smoked Split Herring sold in Connecticut is being recalled due to potential Clostridium botulinum contamination—a bacteria that can cause serious illness. The fish, which was sent to stores in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, is sold at Food Bazaar in Bridgeport.  WTNH-TV
