BUSINESS NEWS

  • Michaels announced it acquired Joann’s intellectual property and private label fabric brands and will add 600 new fabric, sewing and yarn items to its Connecticut stores. The move comes as Joann locations close statewide and consumer searches for fabric increased by 77% on Michaels’ website.  The Ridgefield Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Firehook Artisan Baked Classic Sea Salt Crackers were recalled on May 30 in Connecticut because the label did not list sesame — putting consumers with severe allergies at risk. Shoppers are advised to return the crackers for a full refund.  The Ridgefield Press
  • The FDA announced that certain Zicam nasal swabs and Orajel baby teething swabs have been recalled due to fungal contamination that could lead to serious illness, especially for children and those with weak immune systems. Affected items—sold at local stores including Walmart, Stop & Shop, Acme Markets and CVS—should not be used and customers should call Church & Dwight Co. at 800-981-4710 for a refund.  The Ridgefield Press
