Connecticut lawmakers passed a new consumer law on May 29 that lets smart device owners opt out of recording their information but does not cover smartphones, computers, and video game consoles—this law now moves to Gov. Ned Lamont for his signature.
Connecticut lawmakers were close to a two-year state budget deal after late Wednesday talks, with State Rep. Matt Ritter saying a near-handshake agreement was reached (after months of debate over spending increases).
Lawmakers are expected to finalize the budget soon as they work to balance legal spending caps with higher funding requests.

St. Joseph’s Center in Trumbull will permanently close after repeated evacuations and failure to secure state waivers needed for essential renovations—officials are working with the Connecticut Department of Health to form a safe closure plan.
