  • Danbury will hold its Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 26 at 9 a.m.—the event will start at Rose Street and Main Street and move to Rogers Park to honor military service members.  The Ridgefield Press
  • AAA estimates that 39.4 million people will travel by car for Memorial Day weekend in Connecticut, which is 1 million more than last Memorial Day—drivers are urged to leave before the busiest times and the state will increase police patrols to check for impaired drivers.  News 12 Connecticut

  • Eversource is teaming up with local wildlife artist Matt Paterson to raise awareness for disappearing turtle habitats in powerline corridors—officials said children can log on to the company website to follow a watercolor tutorial that shows how to paint a turtle.  WTNH-TV
  • Starting with Memorial Day weekend, visitors to Squantz Pond State Park in New Fairfield must buy parking passes online up to 14 days in advance to meet the park's 250-car capacity and address heavy traffic—cars from out-of-state incur an extra fee.  The Ridgefield Press

  • Gov. Lamont reached a three-year agreement with SEIU 1199 on May 23 that stopped strike plans by nursing home workers next week— the deal boosts Medicaid funding and raises certified nursing assistants' wages to $26 per hour by Jan. 1, 2028.  News 12 Connecticut
  • Connecticut State Police will receive a 4.5% pay raise starting July 1 — state lawmakers in Hartford approved a new contract on Thursday afternoon — to help attract new recruits.  News 12 Connecticut
