- ➤ A Florida man was sentenced to 11 years in prison yesterday for his role in a violent kidnapping in Danbury—he was one of six who pulled a husband and wife from their car, beat them, and bound them with duct tape in a scheme to extort the couple's son, who is suspected of stealing millions in cryptocurrency. - ➤ Connecticut lawmakers have until next Wednesday to plug a $300 million gap in Medicaid funds or thousands of doctors may not receive HUSKY checks next week. House Speaker Matt Ritter said checks will go out on time (even though Gov. Lamont and lawmakers differ over using the budget surplus) as lawmakers plan a vote on an emergency package (further discussions are expected Monday). News 12 Connecticut
- ➤ On May 15, Gov. Lamont announced that flags across Connecticut were flown at half-staff to honor fallen law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty. - ➤ Officials celebrated the merger between Nuvance Health and Northwell Health at Danbury Hospital on May 15th, creating the largest not-for-profit health system in the Northeast.
