🚨 Crime
State and local agencies raided three Danbury smoke shops on April 4, seizing approximately 55 pounds of illegal cannabis and arresting Ronnie Priar of All the Smoke—charged with operating a drug factory and selling over one kilogram of cannabis—while officials vowed continued enforcement against unregulated sales.
🎓 Education
Affinity Esports Group opened a 4,000-square-foot studio at 27 Glen Road in Newtown to support casual gamers, competitive players, and those interested in game development — expanding its reach beyond its Milford facility.
The studio features over 20 high-performance gaming computers, dedicated spaces for podcasting and video editing, and will host summer camps from June 16 to August 22 — offering kids hands-on gaming skills for the future.
🏥 Health
The Center for Empowerment and Education offers free, confidential services and forensic kits to survivors of sexual violence across its 11-town region—ensuring immediate care and support.
Since July 2024, the center has helped over two dozen survivors and continues providing vital medical and emotional assistance.
🏈 Sports
The Danbury Diesel named Tracey Curtis as its first female head coach during a press conference on April 24 at Hotel Zero Degrees—she will lead the team in their opener on June 7 at the Danbury Ice Arena during Danbury Spirit Night.
Curtis, a UCF graduate who previously coached at Southern Connecticut State University and Jonathan Law High School, broke barriers in pro football and will guide the team in the coming season.
