- ➤ Wendy's began selling uncooked four-ounce square hamburger patties at select grocery chains in Ohio+Colorado as a test for expanding their retail offerings. The chain has 53 local restaurants in CT and may bring this new option to grocery stores here soon. The Ridgefield Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On May 8, students from Bridgeport, Norwalk and other cities went to the state Capitol to ask lawmakers for more school funding as local schools face cuts, including teacher and librarian layoffs and a $30 million shortfall in Bridgeport. Lawmakers are working on a budget that adds extra money for special education, but local leaders say it might not stop all the cuts. News 12 Connecticut

- ➤ Connecticut officers began their bike ride late Thursday morning from Hartford police headquarters as part of the Police Unity Tour to honor fallen Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier. They will arrive in Washington on Monday when his name is read aloud at the National Law Enforcement Memorial — a tribute that is also raising funds for the families of fallen officers. WTNH-TV
- ➤ Beginning this summer, Connecticut State Parks will offer all-terrain wheelchair rentals at seven sites for visitors who reserve online at least four days in advance starting June 7—expanding last fall’s program from five locations. WTNH-TV
