On Friday, gas prices rose above $5 in parts of Connecticut as a New Britain Sunoco station charged $5.19 for cash and $5.29 for credit card purchases for regular unleaded gas — the statewide average increased by 10 cents to $4.417 — up from $3.07 a year ago.

State lawmakers approved a bill Friday evening that requires job listings to include salary ranges and benefits to boost transparency.
Gov. Ned Lamont (expected to sign the legislation) noted the move aligns with similar rules in neighboring states.
Governor Ned Lamont has directed U.S. and state flags to be lowered from sunrise to sunset Sunday at state buildings to honor 204 fallen firefighters – including two local heroes from Plainville and Cromwell – during the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service held at the memorial park in Emmitsburg.

Restaurants and bakeries across Connecticut are joining Bakes for Breast Cancer Connecticut—a weeklong fundraiser from May 1 to May 7—that supports breast cancer research; the event has seen 5,000 establishments raise over $2.5 million in its 26-year run.
